Typical Composition of Natural Gas

The natural gas comes from underground reservoirs. Is a fossil fuel, that is, comes from an organic material deposited and buried for millions of years. The natural gas fuel type is a "hydrocarbon" because the molecules are combinations of hydrogen and carbon atoms.

The natural gas is sometimes produced alone (non-associated gas), and in others it is produced with the oil (Associated gas).

The typical composition of natural gas contains about 82% methane and 19% other gases, including ethane, nitrogen, propane, carbon dioxide, butane and pentane.
