National Cooperative Business Association: NCBA

The National Cooperative Business Association is the nation's oldest and largest national membership association, representing cooperatives of all types and in all industries. We are democratically organized and operate according to internationally recognized cooperative principles.

NCBA demonstrates that cooperatives are a better business model for providing domestic and global social and economic progress.

NCBA shares the same values system as most cooperatives.
Cooperatives base their existence on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility, and caring for others.

Founded in 1916, the National Cooperative Business Association was known as the Cooperative League of America until 1922 and as the Cooperative League of the USA (CLUSA) until 1985. It was the first national organization for cooperatives.
